PROCEDURES RELATED TO THE SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS APPEAL FORM
If you are submitting a request for reinstatement of your financial aid eligibility, then print out the Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid Eligibility (SAPA) form found on the Office of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs web site (SAPA Form). Be sure to read the conditions under which a student can file appeal. The following instructions detail the academic advising component of this appeal process for undecided (or undeclared) students* who are served by the Academic Advising and Planning Center:
- Prepare your Deficit Recovery Plan. This must be a specific academic plan to recover from your SAP academic deficiencies. This plan should include—but is not limited to —details on major exploration, course registration plan, utilization of student support services as needed, and a balanced course load (taking into account any outside responsibilities).
- Call the Academic Advising and Planning Center at 843.953.5981 to schedule an appointment to meet with an academic advisor. ** You must bring your written or typed Deficit Recovery Plan to the appointment.
- You should be prepared to discuss the feasibility of their Deficit Recovery Plan and revise it, if necessary, based on the academic advising session. The academic advisor will approve the Deficit Recovery Plan after it has been reviewed and finalized.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
If you have declared your major, then you must meet with a faculty advisor, department chairperson, or dean of a school.
**The Academic Advising and Planning Center cannot accommodate poor planning on your part. Please schedule your appointment in advance to be certain that you can submit your paperwork to the Office of Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs in a timely manner. You should not expect to handle this matter on a walk-in basis; it requires an appointment.
